Man, doesn't Homer get more and more adorable in every photo?
In the midst of studying for exams, Ben and I squeezed in time to go have some waffles in the legendary Babette diner in central Jerusalem.

Photobucket

My first time there was with my sister 7 years ago, and though I've been in 101 places and states of mind since then, Babette is one thing that remains a favorite.
Photobucket

It's just one of those quintessential Jerusalem spots that everyone knows and loves, yet everytime you go you feel like it's your own special place. Plus the waffles and TDF.

Dana

DIY/Fashion Karma

As I mentioned in my ceremonious back-to-bloggging post, this hiatus has allowed me to divulge in a number of DIY's, most notably in the tie-dye department.

I was never a fan of the bleached jeans look, so I didn't do that, like many bloggers did. Instead I gradually worked my way up from a simple tie dye cuff (minimal upholstering), to tie dye flip flops, and to the crown jewel- a tie dye clutch.
This tie dye obsession is largely due to the magnificent miu miu tie dye bag, a photo of which can be seen here.

Photobucket

(Vest, shoes, clutch, cuff: diy; Dress: Zara)

The cuff and flip flops were made from some tie dye fabric I found laying around; I also have the same fabric in purple and have made a pretty ambitious bag out of it.

Everything I'm wearing in these photos was made by me, except for the evil eye bracelet and the Zara dress. I studded the vest with studs I removed from this hideous pair of shoes I got for 5 dollars at Ross once... More diy/fashion karma.

The upholstery for the clutch I'm wearing was made by me in the 6th grade (gotta love mom for saving impossibly random stuff...). Can you believe it?

Many hugs,

Dana

Flashback to Two Weeks Ago

Since I wasn't blogging in early June, I missed the all important birthday entry.
Luckily, facebook exists- giving me plenty of reason to fervently document my daily happenings, and special occassions such as birthdays.

The celebrations lasted an entire week (as I do), and included a club (not my style, but hey, it was my birthday), a friends' gathering at my place, lovely random food outings with friends, and a trip to Rhodes from my boyfriend, Ben (more on that, later).

On birthdays, my friends and I like to make the long trip over to Tel Aviv (about 40 minutes away), and this was no exception.
Some select, tame pics of my outfit for your assessment:

Photobucket
Photobucket
(Tank top and skirt: Chocolat; Peplum skirt: gift from my sister; bag: floral leather bag: Prune; shoes: Michael Kors)

I would post photos of my gorgeous friends, but I haven't obtained their permission to do so, so I won't...

As you can see from the outfit details, what would appear to be a peplum dress (a la topshop) is actually three pieces- bandage skirt, halter, and skirt hiked up below bust level.
This was brought on by topshop making their lovelier floral dresses with corsets fit only for 32A's. No biggie, I made my own take on what is surely a fleeting trend, anyway...

Then You Realize

I missed blogging.
It just hasn't been possible in the midst of intense studying, and of course my sister being pregnant. She gave birth, by the way, and he is wonderful.

I'd like to thank you all for your e-mails, your facebook messages, your kind support. It really surprised me to see you had not forgotten me, despite my less-than-stellar blogging consistency.

Rest assured I was not going through anything, upset at my readers or anything like that.

I've been more prolific, however, in the fashion/diy department over these past few months than ever before. I hope to showcase everything I've made in the coming weeks, months.

For starters, here's my lunch outfit from today.

Perhaps you noticed my sunglasses, as well. I was, obviously, inspired by the now-famous limited edition Sonia Rykiel pearl sunglasses (shown here). So as to not be too much of a copy cat, I opted for smaller pearls. Here is a bad, but good-enough photo of my version:
Photobucket

Here's a closeup of the gorgeous print on my bag:

I made it from some fabric my mother had left from some dress she had made in the 90's. Or some curtains? Whatever. It's my favorite bag now.

Hopefully you've all been well. Please let me know below/by e-mailing me!

Dana

Cozy Valentine's

I've gone and disappeared again. This is partially due to two things:
  • It's exam time.
  • I suck.

Really, I do. I keep saying I'll updated, to myself, to friends, to readers inquiring, but then I don't. I gotta get back into swing, but I think that would require having heaps of spare time which I just don't. I don't want to end the whole thing because it's still fun, I just think I'll stop apologizing if I don't update, and gain the satisfaction of knowing when I do.

Valentine's was a sweet, semiwarm day over here; but of course, Jerusalem gets super chilly at night so when we exited the restaurant we celebrated at, my tights were pretty helpless against the strong wind and low temp. Two words- worth it.

Love you Budbud.

Summer Longing

Even though we've hardly experienced anything near a 'winter' over here, I really can't go out without a sweater, and usually I require a coat.
I have no recollection of the sensation of not wearing socks. Tear.
Photobucket
This photo of me from this summer makes me happy.

I've actually shopped quite a lot and I am eager to return to semi daily posting, as per two months ago. However, I still have about a week left of school, and then exams. It'll get better. I also feel like revamping.

BTW- Chauss, you mentioned harem is not for you. I find that so refreshing; I really try not to go for whatever's trendy, but I really have a hard time ignoring something if it keeps coming up, and I eventually give anything a shot. However, I recall quite a few trends I never really understood- crop tops, preppy vests, full on fur jackets (one of my peeves! even faux!), ripped tights/leggings and other (in my view) abominations.

So, yah.

Hugs,
Dana

Harem Jumper

I know, I know, I said I can't stand jumpers/playsuits/overalls/playsuits... But this thing at Pull&Bear was irrestistible. And most importantly, on sale.

Photobucket
(harem jumper: Pull&Bear; beanie: Aldo; socks: uh... Nike?)
I kinda sorta love it. I can't wait for summer.

C'mon summer. C'mon.

McQueen for Target

This has got to be the biggest thing that happened to Target since the $2.75 sale on 12 can packs of Diet Coke.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
(imags: Nylon mag online)

I must say, it is definitely in keeping with the McQueen way, but more wearable and thus, maybe less interesting.
However, a few gems are to be found, namely the incredible, out of this world cutout bikini (I want a close up of this thing!); the amazing blue patent booties (do you think these'll be included? I don't think so, because it's not an accessory line... anyway must purchase blue patent booties, note to self); that strange oversized/muted black faux leather snap vest; that brilliant tee, gee I love tees; and that dress I'm not sure if I sorta like or sorta dislike.

Anyhoo, hope I manage to get my hands on any of this stuff.
Hugs
Dana
